This pair project tackled the challenge of getting children aged 5 - 8 years old to attend a beach clean-up.
Our call to action asked children to care about the animals at the beach and take measures to protect them by ‘defeating’ (picking up) litter at the beach clean-up - therefore becoming a 'Beach Hero'. Our campaign attracts the target audience through the use of bold graphic shapes, bright colours, and commanding statements. These aspects are a pastiche of comic book and pop art styles.
We gave the litter illustrations human characteristics to help the young viewers recognise them as the ‘baddies'. In all of our touchpoints we never showed the human character's face so that any child could visualise themselves as the hero.
The user journey progresses through a poster series, a flyer, a website, clothing merchandise, and a certificate that the child would receive after attending a beach clean-up.
